Motorola is set to launch the Moto G5S Plus and the Moto G5S in India today. The two phones, which were globally launched just a few weeks ago, will be arriving in India priced lower than Rs 20,000. Of the two phones, the G5S Plus that has a bigger 5.5-inch screen will cost more (possible around Rs 17,000) while the G5S with its 5.2-inch screen could be priced lower than Rs 15,000.

The two replace the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus in Motorola’s phone lineup in India. The key feature of the Moto G5S Plus is the dual camera on the rear. The phone comes with two 13-megapixel cameras, which will allow it to click photos with blurred background or better low light pictures. The Moto G5S, meanwhile, probably uses the same 16-megapixel camera that Motorola earlier put in the Moto G5 Plus.

The two phones also have a slightly redesigned shell. Both use all-aluminium body with overly curved edges, which seem to have the become synonyms with Motorola phones. Unlike the earlier budget Moto phones, the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S do not have any plastic parts. They are completely metal and glass phones.

Unlike the previous Moto G phones, this time around the Moto phones differ from each other in a significant way. In fact, only the design and the fingerprint scanner under the screen on the front seem to be the only common thing between the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus. Everything else is different. As noted earlier, the cameras in the two phones are different on the rear. Even the front cameras are different. The Moto G5S Plus comes with an 8-megapixel camera while the Moto G5S has a 5-megapixel camera.

Then there is the core hardware. The Moto G5S Plus uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and will possibly be offered in two variants. The Moto G5 uses Snapdragon 430 processor, similar to the one found in the Nokia 6. The entry-level variant of the Moto G5S Plus will come with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The higher variant may come with the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Moto G5S will be only offered in the 3GB, 32GB variant.

As noted earlier, the screen size of the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus is different. The bigger phone comes with a 5.5-inch screen while the smaller Moto G5S comes with a 5.2-inchs screen. Though both phones have the screen resolution of 1080P. However, despite the difference in the size, one big surprise is that both the Moto G5S Plus and the Moto G5S use the similar 3000mAh battery.

Another similarity between the two phones is that they run Android Nougat in its stock aka pure form. Also both phones are almost certain to get the Android Oreo update in the coming months.

Although, the price that we mentioned earlier, is not final or confirmed by Motorola, we are certain that it is going to be under Rs 20,000. The new Moto G phones will compete with the likes of the Nokia 6, Redmi Note 4 and the Motorola’s own Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus in the market.
